You'll get many jobs offers in your lifetime, but that doesn't mean you should accept all of them. Life is too short to spend time in a job you're not completely blissful with. Therefore, you should probably decline a job offer in the following situations.
The Pay Rate Is Unreasonable
One good reason to decline a job offer is if the pay rate does not satisfy you. You will spend 40 hours or more each week at the job site. You don't want to tie up all of your time at a place that isn't paying you enough to pay your bills. You could try to negotiate for better pay, but you should probably decline if you can't get it.
The Majority of Employee Reviews Are Negative
Most large corporations have review pages where former and current employees can leave details about their experiences. While it's true that no one can please everyone, you should still be leery if the employer has many negative reviews. If the majority of reviews are negative, then it's probably not a good place for you to put yourself.
Your Prospective Boss Lacks Integrity
Finally, you should turn down a job if you find out before you even start that your new boss has no integrity. This could happen in many ways. The new boss could say something that puts you off, or he could try to get you to do something that you know is against policies. The best way to handle that is to decline the job offer. You won't be able to get away from the person who hires you to work under him or her. You probably don't desire to work for someone who doesn't have integrity anyway. Other job offers will come along for you. You don't need to worry about this one.
Remember that you have a right to decline any job offer that isn't suitable for you. Declining the offer may save you a lot of trouble or heartache in the end. Therefore, you must make sure that all aspects of the job are how you want them to be.
